Leeds United star suffers knee ligament damage – injury timescale yet to be confirmed

Leeds United have confirmed that star striker Kemar Roofe is set for a “period on the sidelines” after it was confirmed that he has suffered knee ligament damage.

It was reported yesterday here on The72 that Leeds United star striker Kemar Roode was set to undergo scans on a knee injury he suffered in their 2-1 victory over Swansea City.

Now, the results of the scans have come back, and it makes for bad reading for Leeds United supporters.

The Championship title hunters confirmed on their club website on Monday afternoon that Roofe has suffered knee ligament damage in their clash with Swansea. The statement does not include a potential date of return for the striker, nor does it provide a potential injury timescale.

However, they will be working hard at the training ground to try and get their top scorer back onto the pitch “as quickly as possible”.

The striker also posted on his Instagram page upon the confirmation of the injury, insisting that the injury is just a reason for him to work harder to come back better than ever.

Despite the fact Roofe’s absence will be a big hit, the ever nearing first team debut for Izzy Brown along with the option of Patrick Bamford means that Bielsa will still have top quality options going forward. Brown has been on the bench for Leeds’ last two league games and played 45 minutes for the Under-23s against Bolton at Elland Road on Monday afternoon.

Roofe has been in electric form for Leeds throughout this season, the 26-year-old has netted 14 league goals in 27 Championship appearances so far this season, also providing two assists.
