FA Cup quarter-final draw: Man Utd travel to Wolves, while Millwall host Brighton

FA Cup quarter-final draw: live updates

Manchester United’s victory over Chelsea earned them a tricky trip to face Wolves away from home in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

United’s visit to Molineux is the pick of the ties for the quarter-finals, which will also pit Championship side Millwall against Brighton at the Den.

Millwall will be delighted at being drawn at home, where they have already defeated Premier League opposition in the shape of Everton this season.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who beat Newport County to reach this stage of the competition, have been handed another favourable draw as they continue to push for titles in all four competitions this season.

City will return to Wales to face Graham Potter’s Swansea City, who are currently 13th in the Championship.

The quarter-finals will take place on the weekend of March 16, with the winning clubs set to receive £720,000 in prize money.

The final tie of the round is an all-Premier League affair as Watford meet Crystal Palace at Vicarage Road. It is a winnable tie for Palace, who are on a missing to help manager Roy Hodgson lift his first ever silverware in England.

Hodgson became the oldest Premier League manager in history on Sunday after passing Sir Bobby Robson's record, taking charge of their FA Cup tie at Doncaster at the age of 71 years and 192 days.

Though Hodgson has won eight league titles during a coaching career spanning over four decades, he has never lifted a trophy in England, with the Europa League final in 2010 at Fulham the furthest he has progressed in his native country.

Scott Dann, the Palace defender, has admitted Hodgson is desperate to make an impression in the cup this season.

"He’s done a great job since he came into the football club,” Dann said. “He might be the oldest manager but is still driven. He will be thinking the same as we are, that we are a game away from Wembley.

"Every competition he plays in, he’s a winner and wants to win. You can see that with every round, we’re fielding a strong side and played against lower league opposition a couple of times now and fielded a strong side and every time we play in this competition he is pushing for us to get through.”

FA Cup quarter-final draw

  • Swansea City vs Manchester City
  • Watford vs Crystal Palace
  • Wolves vs Manchester United
  • Millwall vs Brighton

A reminder that all these ties will be played on the weekend of March 15-17.

Nearly time...

Darren Fletcher and Wayne Bridge are currently dissecting tonight's match. It will be those two former greats who pull the balls out tonight.

It's time

Here are a reminder of your ball numbers:

  1. Wolverhampton Wanderers
  2. Millwall
  3. Crystal Palace
  4. Manchester City
  5. Manchester United
  6. Swansea City
  7. Watford
  8. Brighton & Hove Albion

The draw awaits

Gary Lineker has just assured us that the quarter-final draw is imminent. But Paul Pogba is currently speaking after a goal and an assist tonight.

A new era

Give him the job full time (says a Spurs fan...).

Confirmed

Chelsea have lost 2-0 and Maurizio Sarri's troubles continue.

Chelsea heading out?

It looks like the holders are about to be dumped out of the competition. Manchester United are still 2-0 up at Stamford Bridge (where Callum Hudson-Odoi has not even come off the bench) and they are into the final five minutes.

'I love the FA Cup'

Reckon the FA Cup doesn't matter in football any more? Think again. Here is a nice piece on Millwall manager Neil Harris, who will be watching this draw with bated breath. But then he would be even if Millwall weren't involved...

I’ll watch the draw with my wife and children like I always do. Whether we (Millwall) are in it or not, we sit there for a half an hour waiting for it to come on. We sit down at seven and it comes on at 7.25pm. That’s what I’ve done for the last round and the year before that, and the year before that. Whether we are in it or not, because I love the competition.

Has he forced his wife and kids to sit on the sofa since 7pm???

Quadruple?

Top of the Premier League, through to the League Cup final, Champions League last-16 and FA Cup quarter-final... could Manchester City actually do the quadruple???

Here's Pep Guardiola not really answering that question:

We are in four competitions – every game is completely different. You play League Two, then Champions League. You have to adapt and change mentality. The big mistake is believing you are better than anyone.

Draw preview

Good evening and welcome to coverage of the FA quarter-final draw. This is where things get serious.

There are nine teams still remaining in the competition, although one of them has just 45 minutes before their ball is removed from tonight's hat. That depends on who triumphs at Stamford Bridge, where Manchester United are currently 2-0 up against Chelsea at half-time.

Of the eight teams that will contest the quarter-finals, six ply their trade in the Premier League, while Swansea and Millwall represent the Championship.

Here are the all-important ball numbers:

  1. Wolverhampton Wanderers
  2. Millwall
  3. Crystal Palace
  4. Manchester City
  5. Chelsea or Manchester United
  6. Swansea City
  7. Watford
  8. Brighton & Hove Albion

All the matches will take place over the weekend of March 16/17.
