Preston North End, Hull City and Luton Town join Swansea City in chase for departing Peterborough United star

Peterborough United’s out of contract defender Ryan Tafazolli will be leaving the club upon the expiry of his contract, and Championship quartet Preston North End, Hull City, Luton Town and Swansea City have all been credited with interest.

It was reported earlier this week that Swansea City are interested in Peterborough United’s departing centre-back Ryan Tafazolli. Now, the Peterborough Telegraph has reported that Championship trio Preston North End, Hull City and newly promoted Luton Town are all interested in Tafazolli.

Standing at 6ft 5in, Ryan Tafazolli has been a mainstay in Peterborough United’s defence since joining on a three-year deal from Mansfield Town in 2016. Now, after a thoroughly successful time at London Road, the defender is ready to test himself in the Championship.

Tafazolli has earned his chance to test himself in the second tier of English football. His physical prowess in the defence helps deal with big strikers, while also providing a threat from set pieces.

The 27-year-old played 131 times during his time with the Posh, scoring seven goals and providing six assist along the way. Tafazolli also amassed League Two experience with Mansfield Town, playing 118 games for the club from 2012 to 2016.

The Posh have moved to bring in a replacement for Tafazolli already, with chairman and co-owner Darragh MacAnthony revealing that the club have already brought in a number of defenders.

Any of Swansea, Preston, Hull or Luton would be on the good end of a bargain deal if they brought in Tafazolli this summer. His football league experience and strong defensive ability could prove to play an important role in any of their defences next season.
