Only eight Championship teams paid agents less than Birmingham City during the two transfer windows this season.

The Football Association have revealed that Blues paid agents around £1.1million in the summer and January transfer windows. Blues made 13 signings in the summer and a further three in the winter window.

Blues paid intermediaries around £5,000 more than they did across the 2022/23 season. The agency Blues have dealt with most this season is CAA Stellar, which is headed up Jonathan Barnett and David Manessah and represents Ethan Laird, Jay Stansfield and Andre Dozzell.

Leeds United paid agents more than any other Championship team - and by some distance. The Elland Road outfit forked out almost £13.3m to the transfer facilitators.

Leicester City spent in excess of £8m and the final relegated club, Southampton, paid agents just over £7.5m. Second-placed Ipswich Town’s success is all the more remarkable after learning they paid agents just £1.2m.

Rotherham United will finish bottom of the Championship and the £440,000 they paid to agents reflects that. Sheffield Wednesday only spent £500,000, too. The other teams who paid agents less than Blues are Blackburn, Bristol City, Millwall, Plymouth, QPR and Swansea.
